What defines an acoustic artist? Solo acts or bands who primarily use acoustic instruments of any kind, amplified or not, and whose repertoire consists of original music, and/or acoustic adaptations of published musical arrangements.
Why acoustic music? Acoustic music is versatile from a performance point of view. It can be performed as successfully in a coffeehouse as it can in a night club, auditorium or stadium, and is accessible to a wide audience and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and type.
Though there are numerous styles of acoustic music, from punk to rock, folk and beyond, its inherent simplicity of execution blurs many musical definitions, adding to it's versatility as an artform.
Why bother? Many people lock acoustic music into the traditional folksong, singer/songwriter style. The fact is that acoustic music goes well beyond what many people are conditioned to believe. New England Acoustic aims to broaden the reach of acoustic artists in the areas of performance venues, fan bases and musical outlets. It also serves to broaden the music fan's definition and appreciation of acoustic music in general.
